Company Background

LOGIS-TECH, Inc. was founded in 1987 as a logistics, engineering and technical services firm. Today the company is the primary provider of Controlled Humidity Protection systems to all components of the Department of Defense. Controlled Humidity Protection is a corrosion suppression and maintenance technology that improves weapons systems availability and operational readiness while simultaneously lowering operations and maintenance costs.

Innovative Technology Developed

LOGIS-TECH developed the Environment Stabilization System (ESS®) to satisfy the Naval Air Systems Command requirement for providing a "desert-like atmosphere" in any operational environment through a dynamic dehumidification process. The technology is generically referred to as Controlled Humidity Protection in Department of Defense policy and procedures. Equipment can be protected indefinitely in a fully operational, ready-to-use condition. In sheltered Controlled Humidity Protection applications, the "maintenance clock stops" and periodic maintenance requirements are deferred.

An average Return on Investment is 8:1 over a ten-year Controlled Humidity Protection program. This was confirmed through studies conducted by the Department of Defense Inspector General, the Government Accounting Office, the Army CEAC, and the Center for Naval Analyses. The ESS® has been used to protect numerous weapons systems from the effects corrosion and of moisture-induced material degradation including: F-14 Tomcat, A-6 Intruder, AV-8B and TAV-8B Harriers, C-130 Hercules, EP-3E Aries II, EA-6B Prowler, AH-64 Apache, Patriot, Fire Finder Radar, Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS), M1 Abrams Tank, M113 Family of Vehicles, Bradley Fighting Vehicle, Mobile Subscriber Equipment, Tactical Communications Van, Small Arms stored in armories or Shipment Containers, Weapon's Containers, and Tactical Communication Shelters. Each ESS® is a uniquely tailored solution comprised of five general components: the preservation envelope, the air dehydration equipment, the Smart Control System (SCS™), the Battery Preservation System (BPS™) and the Automated Inventory and Maintenance Management System (AIMMS™).

The Automated Inventory and Maintenance Management System (AIMMS™) is a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) based technology employed to automate the property record, location, and maintenance clock adjustment functions.

DoD Implementation and Commercialization Summary

LOGIS-TECH, inc. has grown from 10 to 150 employees since undertaking its first SBIR project in 1993.
